Post
Office
Built in 1903 and originally situated
at Westholme (8 miles from the Discovery Centre) this post
office sorted mail until 1973. Families could rent a combination
lock box for a small charge, otherwise mail was handed out
through the window. As the post office grew, it became difficult
to sort the mail on the table, so the postmistress often sat
on a shortened chair and sorted the mail on the floor.
