Lower Grounds

The Lower Grounds of the Forest Centre is a natural treat! An expansive field for play of all sorts, a playground and tree houses for the kids.

Watch the steam train take on water by the lake or climb aboard at the North Cowichan Station. Check out the logging truck display or walk through the woods to the 1900 sawmill.

You can picnic by the playground or in the shelters. Don't have a picnic? Try one of the many treats from the Snack Bar.

From the lower grounds you can get to two of our train stations or walk one of three interpretive nature trails through the forest or by the marsh.
